The Flying Donkeys

I’ve always wanted to merge playing CM0102 and another game.

So I’ve gone with FIFA.

I’ve chosen……….

Chievo Verona FC

An Italian team playing in Serie A.

They have a very interesting history and Hollywood-style present-day story that’s fit for a Netflix-made film.

Their existence in the Italian pyramid is a bit of a roller coaster.

Making their debut in Serie A in 2001/02 up until 2007 and then returned in 2008.

There’s a steady progression, but then a dramatic drop from 2014 and from there spirals out of control resulting in the club’s death.

SO

I’m going to start with FIFA 14 and manage Chievo

I aim to build a team that will be more competitive in Serie A, between 2014 – 2018 playing every one of those seasons as a stand-alone season and carrying over the same team with each version of FIFA.

And when they drop down a league, play out that season (with the same team that I finished with on FIFA 18) on a DB 2019/20 on CM0102.

I can buy and sell any player I want from start to finish.

BUT

I can’t sell their club legend.

This is all my son’s fault.

I’ve never been a big fan of FIFA, but after hours of being subjected to YouTubers playing the game.

One of them had this idea of 1 season saves and I liked the idea too.

I had to make two online purchases, which I think I did all right on. It didn’t come with FIFA 18, that one I’ll have to get separately.

The bundle did come with FIFA 11 and 12, but no FIFA 13, which is driving me mad, seeing them stacked up and one is missing.

ANYWAY

Season 1

I walked into the club and shipped every player I could straight onto the transfer market and out the door with every bid flying in for them.

With cash and an empty roster, I spent hours building a squad and topped it up in the January window also.

So far I have come up with this team.

Spent heavily on the defence and made sure I got cover for Luke Shaw given how injury-prone he can be, on top of covering one of the hardest positions to get reliable players in for the role itself.

Happy with the Harry Kane purchase, don’t see myself ever selling him.

Vardy is slightly the better player.

They are all household names, however, they are all very young and what I discovered as I played each game, they’re raw with flashes of brilliance.

I set the tactic to the following…

And so the game kicks off

Dumped out of the Italian cup in the first round.

Fought well up until the end, however a few games combined with injuries went against me towards the end of the season.

Harry Kane with 20 goals in 32 games.

It’s an impressive haul considering he can’t run, can’t pass, can’t tackle and has no control or first touch.

However, his power in his shots and the ability to header on target were clinical.

Sadio Mané was also a great player in the team contributing 10 goals from the wing, but he did get injured towards the end of the season. And I felt his absence from the team when going up against tough opponents.

Bruno Fernandes was a bit rubbish and i guess that’s mainly down to his low rating, I can kind of understand.

Rabiot is one of the highest-rated players in the squad and you could see it. But I’m not convinced the two MC are good together.

Probably could do with a DMC-minded player. I think that would have prevented so many annoying draws from going ahead in the game and not seeing it out.

On to FIFA 15
