Treble challenge part 1

This looks to be the toughest season of them all as Celtic completed this season undefeated.

The team I’ve picked out to start with and formation.

The two MC and AM are up in the air at the minute interms of selection.

I’d like to put Forrest in the team somehow, too.

First game of the season.

Didn’t even make it 30 minutes in, and lightning strikes as my goalkeeper gets sent off.

Halftime, and despite being one man down, we still go on to get another. However, St Johnstone have netted twice also.

Dembele itching to get on the scoresheet.

Rogic finnishing his chances to make up for it.

Question mark on Roberts’ involvement in the game for the second half and an option for me to maybe test Forrest in that position.

Full time and the unbeaten attempt was nearly compromised.

I kept Roberts in the game, and he grew into the second half.

3rd game in and the unbeaten for this season is over, lol

The loanee with the only goal of the game.

He could be a dark horse of the league.

We have qualified for the group stages of the champions league after this win.

Europe isn’t part of this challenge, but I am interested in how they get on against Europe’s more elite teams.

My first old firm derby of the season.

Half time, and it’s a draw. Rangers scoring with their only shot on goal is frustrating.

Full time and nothing changed.

Didn’t make much of an impact in the second half. If anything, Rangers grew into the game.

I made a sub at the end to see if it would make an impact. Swapping Forrest for sinclair to go into an AMR position and replaced sinclair with McGegor, who slotted into the vacent MC role.

European wise they are not doing well.

This form is also appearing in the league too. With now their second defeat in the league.

Form does turn around and at the right time as we go into our second old firm derby full of hope.

Still not comfortable with the midfield. However, I was happy with them in this game. Rogic is the star man so far. Dembele is growing as the season goes on.

League cup action, and we are now into the semi-finals.

Steady rhythm continues in the league with back to back wins and entertaining scorelines.

Lightning strikes with my star man. He will be missed 💯.

He’s missed, for sure. However, Dembele is coming into the season more and sinclair too.

Semi final draw for the league cup.

We dodge the Premiership teams, which is a plus.

Half time in the semi finals

We’ve had chances, but the scoreline doesn’t show it.

Nice to have Rogic back

Full-time and a win.

Should have been more.

Individual brillants get us through. Sinclair, a surprise disappointment, and Lustig, unable to make a challenge, made me nervous.

Big loss to the team, but it was coming.

Draw for our first Scottish cup round. Again, dodging the big guns.

Strolled into the next round with ease.

Injury strikes again. It’s a bad one, but he’s not in my starting 11 plans.

A home Old firm derby next up.

Level at halftime.

They have done enough to go as is in the second half.

Full-time

Lustig came good in the second half.

After the game, Celtic are champions. That’s one trophy in the bag.

How the league looked.

With the league in the bag, time to turn our attention to the remaining cup competitions to complete the treble challenge.

Up next is the fifth round of the Scottish cup.

Full-time and replay now on the cards. The loss of two starting players is never a good thing going into the next round.

Hoping for the home advantage as the 12 man today.

Half time in the replay. Looking comfortable going into the second half and one foot into the final.

Full-time

Happy for the win and happy Ajer got to shine. I’ve been meaning to play him more, but Brown isn’t droppable.

But he took his chance and I’m pleased for him.

Things are on course to complete the challenge.

Day of the league cup final. Missing Brown and Toure is a big blow.

Half-time and leading, but lost Tierney, who has had a great season. He will be missed, but I need to think about the second half.

Full-time

A domestic double in the bag in a treble challenge, happy days.

Aberdeen put up a decent fight, it wasn’t a landslide.

Dembele is not on the scoresheet, despite having chances.

He’s too good not to drop, but question marks on his performance in big games. Again, he had the chances, which looks like a good performance. But strikers need goals to their name.

Not what celtic needed this late on in the season.

Next up, the semi-finals of the Scottish cup. Two games now stand in our way to complete the challenge.

Going into the semi-finals, I have both my main strikers injured.

Not what you need going in, so I reshuffle the pack and come up with the idea of playing sinclair as a striker, allowing McGregor to get into the starting 11. Bit in and out for him in this save.

Half-time and a goal down.

They have been in the game more than we have been.

Sinclair has registered one shot on out of two attempts.

Missing dembele or a natural striker.

Team overall looking average.

Full-time and the challenge is over.

I have failed.

Came into it more in the second half.

At least I got the goal to maybe start to build onto and look like maybe taking the game by the neck.

But that was only an ingame 8 minute pipe dream.

I’m ending the season with a double and not a treble.

Part of the season in Scottish football, I don’t understand. But there’s still games to go to compete the league.

Get another chance at Hearts and the missing striker, and get the early goal FFS.

Surprise inclusion of commons got a goal to complete a descent runout.

Another chance to have a pop at Rangers.

FFS, it’s Garner again.

A menace against my team all season.

The battle of headers got the better of me.

Two games remaining. It would be nice to end on a good result and team performance.

And they did just that.

Picked up three key players injured on the way to winning.

But seen out the game without getting caught with their pants down.

Final games player ratings. Not much to talk about with the subs.

If this had been during the season, it would have been a massive blow.

Season is now completed.

Two defeats meant I couldn’t match real life.

12 points behind the real-life achievement.

Players end of season stats

Standout for me has to be Rogic

However, if I had to pick, it’s got to be the player with the perfect tens.

The end of this database.

One to the next one.

  1. To begin the season with 4 goals in the first match from your MC is great.
As a Lyon’s fan, i’m happy to see your choice of player of the season.
I like the challenge, ready to see the next season!
